How to Grant GoDaddy Delegate Access to Pinion Designs

When you need technical support for your domain management, DNS settings, or hosting configuration, you may need to provide delegate access to our team through your GoDaddy account. This guide will walk you through granting secure delegate access.

Quick Setup Instructions:

Follow these steps to grant delegate access to Pinion Designs:

Step 1: Access Your GoDaddy Account

  1. Navigate to godaddy.com
  2. Click Sign In in the top right corner
  3. Log in with your GoDaddy credentials

Step 2: Navigate to Delegate Access

  1. Click on your profile name or account icon in the top right corner
  2. Select Account Settings from the dropdown menu
  3. Look for Delegate Access in the left sidebar menu
  4. Click Delegate Access, you may be prompted to sign in again.

Step 3: Add New Delegate

  1. Click on Invite to Access or Add Delegate
  2. Enter the delegate information:

Step 4: Set Access Permissions

Choose the appropriate access level based on your needs:

Products, Domains, & Purchase

Choose this one ONLY if you have a good reason for doing so. This option would allow Pinion Designs to manage payment types and make payments on your account. We do not need this level of access normally, and only after we have discussed said need with you!

Products & Domains

This is normally the required level of access we need. This will allow us to access any server, website, or domain in your account to perform the required maintenance.

Domains Only

This option is for managing domains for other hosting options. We will let you know if this option is adequate.

Step 5: Send the Invitation

  1. Review the selected permissions
  2. Click Send Invitation
  3. The delegate will receive an email invitation at [email protected]

Step 6: Confirm Access

After sending the invitation:

  1. Notify us that the invitation has been sent
  2. We’ll accept the invitation and confirm access
  3. You’ll receive a notification when we accept

Security Best Practices

🔒 Principle of Least Privilege

Only grant the minimum access needed for the specific support task. You can always expand permissions later if needed.

📧 Email Notifications

GoDaddy will send you email notifications when:

  • Delegate access is granted
  • A delegate makes changes to your account
  • Access is revoked

🕐 Temporary Access

Delegate access should be temporary. Remove access once the support work is completed.

👀 Monitor Activity

Regularly check your Account Activity to see what actions delegates have performed.

Troubleshooting

Can’t Find Delegate Access

  • Solution: Delegate Access may be under “Account Settings” → “Account Preferences” or “Security”
  • Alternative: Use GoDaddy’s search function to find “Delegate Access”

Invitation Not Received

  • Check that [email protected] is spelled correctly
  • Ask us to check spam/junk folders
  • Resend the invitation if needed

Limited Permission Options

  • Some GoDaddy accounts have restricted delegate features
  • Contact GoDaddy support if you can’t grant necessary permissions
  • Consider alternative support methods

Access Denied Errors

  • Verify the delegate accepted the invitation
  • Check that appropriate permissions were granted
  • Try removing and re-adding the delegate

Alternative: Temporary Login Sharing

If delegate access isn’t available or working:

Option 1: Temporary Password

  1. Change your GoDaddy password to a temporary one
  2. Share login credentials securely (via phone or encrypted message)
  3. Change password immediately after support is complete

Option 2: Screen Sharing Session

  1. Schedule a screen sharing session
  2. Maintain control while we guide you through changes
  3. No credential sharing required

Important Notes

🚨 Never Share Your Password

Delegate access is the secure way to grant temporary access. Never share your actual GoDaddy password.

📱 Two-Factor Authentication

If you have 2FA enabled, delegate access bypasses this requirement for the delegate while keeping your account secure.

💰 Billing Protection

Be cautious about granting billing access unless specifically needed. This allows viewing of payment information and making purchases.
