The Ballard House Inn was one of my first clients and they needed a website that could truly capture the charm and warmth of their historic bed and breakfast. Their existing online presence was outdated and did not reflect the quality of the experience guests could expect when staying with them. I worked closely with the innkeepers to understand what made their property special and how to translate that into a digital experience.
The redesign focused on creating a visually inviting atmosphere right from the landing page. I selected a color palette that complemented the inn’s interior decor and used large, high quality photography to showcase the rooms and common areas. The navigation was simplified so potential guests could quickly find information about accommodations, rates, and local attractions.
One of the standout features I implemented was a virtual tour that let visitors explore the inn from the comfort of their own homes. This was particularly valuable for out of town guests who wanted to get a real sense of the place before booking. I also integrated an online booking system that streamlined the reservation process for both the innkeepers and their guests.
The response to the new website was overwhelmingly positive. The inn saw an increase in direct bookings and received compliments from guests who said the website made them feel welcome before they even arrived. This project remains one of my favorites because it demonstrated how thoughtful web design can directly support a small business’s growth.
